My New Love : Nakata Hide

I, like most people, was getting worked up about the World Cup. I just sorta narrowed down my focus on Nakata. I'm not sure what it is. I don't find his face particularly "wow" but I do think he's really cool, has good taste and down to earth (and yesss I KNOW this for a fact). Did I mention he's a soccer player? My addiction has gone from bad to worse when I was grading a speech test for my students and I had to ask them questions. My questions were, "who's your favourite Japanese soccer player?" and, "do you like Nakata?" I swear I liked them a lot better when they gave me the right answers (JK). But yeah, I think they caught on to that because it seemed after a while, EVERYONE of them adored him.

Japan and Yahoo weather
Other than Nakata, all I can think about is how the weather would be. I've invited my friends Brandon and Jeffrey, from Hiroshima and Oita, and a few of their friends to come to Hikari this weekend to celebrate CANADA day with me. I'm totally excited about it but according to Yahoo weather, it's suppose to rain all week long. It hasn't rain in the past 2 days. I feel like a weather Nazi these days, monitoring the weather for the next 12 hours and seeing if I should cancel the plans.

The Weekend in Oita-ken - July 03-04

I forced myself out of my sick bed to go to Oita-ken and boy was it well it ever worth it. I met up with Jeffrey (from Oita) and Brandon (from Hiroshima) for Concert on the Rock in Nakatsu. It was a small little concert with local musicians from around Japan performing and I thought many of them were really talented. There were food, music, a flea market and the sun. What could be better when you're sick? Jeffrey was such a wonderful host. He took us to the best onsen (hot spring) that I have ever been to, karaoke and sight-seeing the next day before we had to return home.

This is a famous cave temple in Nakatsu. Personally, I'm not really sure what it's famous for but it was really cool... and a bit eerie to be honest. But check out the landscape and all the details.
These monks sort of scared me. Look at his eyes. Like something from an Asian horror. Don't have nightmares now.
Ladies and Gentlemen, meet THE attraction of the whole Kyushu island: Jeffrey's freaking apartment. Filled with bottles, cans, garbage, bags, and God knows what else. But, being the good host that he is, he did a good job cleaning what he had to.
This was the little cart ride to get up to the cave temple. There are many things Japan must work on and one of these has got to be safety precautions. No seat belt, no bar, no nothing. I was struggling to even turn around for pictures.
Jeffrey to my right and Brandon to my left. Not sure where we were as I was sick and totally out of it half the time.
Beautiful rice fields. Never seen anything like it. One thing I'll definitely miss when I leave this place.
