Iwakuni Water Festival - August 5th, 2006

Every year around this time, Iwakuni city in Yamaguchi would hold a festival (much like most other places). But this one is by far one of the most beautiful fireworks I've seen. With a setting next to the kintaikyo, one of the most famous bridges in Japan, and along the Nishiki river, watching the firework in this surrounding made it all the more breathtaking. Again, one of the most romantic moments in my life and I had to spend it with Ross, Keith and Jeffrey.

I couldn't brave the heat in my yukata (summer kimono) but glad to know that a lot of people were tougher than me.

(Above: Counter clockwise from me are Ross from Iwakuni, Jeffrey from Oita-ken and Keith from Tabuse. Never knew we had so many wrinkles at our 20's... DAMN)

We found an ol' school karaoke afterwards and chilled there for the rest of the night. We met some pretty interesting Japanese folks there. For example, there was this crazy, older Japanese man. He must've been atleast 60 and was totally drunk outta his mind. He kept giving me his middle finger, thinking it was funny. I gave him a weird "what are you doing" kinda look but then thought, he probably didn't know the severity of it so I just laughed with him. Imagine that... he tells me to *&#% off and I laugh like an idiot. Shortly after when I was singing, he kept coming up to me to give me toilet paper to hold on to...yes... I said toilet paper. And he would unroll the toilet paper to different people in the bar. He did this a few times and as a result... refer to the picture below.
uh huh...

You may not be able to see the old man's face but can't you just tell he was crazy from the back. It's written all over his posture. Anyway, I ended up with a LOT of toilet paper. I thought it was a waste and decided to go to the washroom and use three pieces of toilet paper. But the rest of it...
