Halloween 2006

@Gotcha
Not less extraordinary as last year's, I was, however, disappointed to see so few JETs attend the party. Where the hell did everybody go? Well, if you missed out, here are some pics to fill you in. And by the way, I'm not Alias nor a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (Kill Bill). Just an assassin who prefers to work alone.
CASTING (Above: Skele-Takuo and Count Yasuyuki (from Yamaguchi) and I grabbing a last minute bite at 7-11 before the party)
(Above: Me and Satoru from Tokuyama. Beer and guns go well together)
(Above: Me with Go from Yamaguchi. Have you ever seen a man happier than him at gunpoint?)
(Above: Not that you can differentiate but it's Haruki, Shohei and Satoru from Tokuyama)
(Above: By coincidence, we had a Michael and Janet in the house)
(Above: Daniel and I. There's something totally wrong about this picture that I can't seem to point out)
Winners of 2006 Best pair costumes: Docomo Girls...who trashed the party of mainly "au" users.
(Above: DJ HG... Stirling's missing the hat but he made it up with his superb Hard Gay dance)
(Above: Comrade Pauline, me and ex-member of the Yakuza)
(Above: Pauline and I are seen here protecting Rosie, the gossiper from Claire, the threat. Apparently, Rosie's history of gossiping has created much tension throughout the Yamaguchi-ken. Members of both the Gaijin-triad and the Nihonjin-mafia, have demanded her death for a reward of unlimited beer all year round. This enticing offer has already caused a great stir in the JET organized crime society. Members such as Steph Karangis (AKA: El Diablo) and Keith Lonsdale (AKA: Left-Eye Lonsdale for his ruthlessness after a few drinks) have already made attempts to eliminate Miss Martin. We will be ensuring her safety for the rest of her gossiping career in Japan)
(Above: The pregrant nun, Saori is seen here preaching to me about the sins of killing)
(Above: Is somebody drunk?)
(Above: Is my sempai (senior). The fishnet stockings would indicate we're from the same branch. Seen a lot of fishnets around? Well then, you better watch out)
(Above: Left-eye here disguises himself as the rocker, Sid Vicious, so he could weasel his way in for the kill... of Ms. Rosie)

(Above: At the end of the night, Satoru and Haruki's obvious hint of "I'm drunk, tired and want to get the hell outta here" look)

Welcome New JETs

A little late I know, since it is October. But I had every intention to put it up. Just been a bit busy and my blogging abilities are pretty low to be honest. The New JETs arrived in August and I must say that a lot of them are quite cool people. I've had the chance to hang out a lot of the new kouhai's near me like Daniel, Sherona, Brett, Choco, Ashley S., and they are loads of fun.

(Above: I'm not exactly sure what's going on here but it looks like Daniel (left) and Keith (right) were having a good time. Please use your own imagination)
(Above: Keith and some new JETs. Boy doesn't Daniel look messed)
(Above: Let me introduce this fine bachelor of Yamaguchi ken. If you don't know this guy, it's fine. Not many people have seen this Kudamatsu man. On a regular day off, he enjoys avoiding people's phone calls and keeping his number a secret. His hobbies are staying home, talking to Brett and only Brett. He is not a picky man. As long as you're ok with not being able to get a hold of him all times of the day, you have a chance. Oh yeah, and of course you'd have to be able to get along with Brett too. For further information, please call Brett)
(Above: Too many karaoke divas in this room. Can't compete)

Beach and BBQ: Nijigahama

The weekend after the first kencho meeting, I invited some JETs in the area to a BBQ that Keith and I had organized with some of our super cool J-friends (Japanese, if you're unfamiliar). It was a perfect day for beach and BBQ. I was a little worried about jellyfish season coming around but the turn-out was amazing. Only Brett and Marko got stung but that's ok. They're touch guys. Thanks to Keisuke and Yousuke, we had tons of good food to eat.

(Above from left to right: Brett, Keith, Kevin, Ashley M., Mark, Ashley S., Kathryn, Kathryn's boyfriend, Choco)

(Above: Yousuke, Keisuke, me and Keith showing off our "so-buff" bods)

(Above: Here's Sherona, the new JET who is stationed in Hikari with me)

(Left: Is Choco from Kudamatsu and Kathryn from Iwakuni. Loving the boob-patches Choco. You ARE an artist!)

After BBQ-ing at the beach, we decided to go to the infamous Jack and Betty for some karaoke and round two of drinking. Keith and I: The sexiest mother #$%^&*#'s in town
Shogo, a local j-friend and I
I think we were possibly the drunkest people that night. I don't remember these pix at all. A good ending to the night I suppose.

A Day of Sight-seeing in Hikari

When the new ALT, Jessica, arrived in Hikari, the BOE (Board of Education) decided to take her sight-seeing around Hikari and Yamato. We took her to Hirobumi Ito's home and memorial park. If you don't know Hirobumi Ito, he is the first Prime Minister of Japan and was a product of Yamato, a town that merged to Hikari 2 years ago. He was also on the old 1000 yen bill, hence the picture below.

@ the Hikari Fire Station
Before Jessica was to arrive to Hikari, the BOE asked for my suggestion on where to take her sight-seeing. Without even thinking, I suggested Hikari fire station. They took me there last year because I told them I like rock-climbing and the fire station so happened to have a climbing wall so we went there and I had such a good time. The BOE kept saying no, insisting that this is sight-seeing for Jessica and not me. But of course on that day, they told me they booked an appointment at the fire station. I knew they couldn't say no to me.
(Above: Akihoshi san from the fire station, Okada san from BOE, Jessica and Mukaida san from BOE posing away)

(Above: Japanese firemen. Such posers, aren't they?) (Above: Yay! I made it to the top. Couldn't believe it either since I only climbed up to 3/4 of it last year. Kinda embarrassing when I had putting on the harness because my legs were too big and I had to squeeze my fat thigh through haha... oh Japan and it's little people. Feeling big is one thing i definitely ain't gonna miss when I leave) (Above: Macho macho man... He was hilarious. Notice his sleeves are rolled up really high. I know he did that on purpose to show off his big guns because I remember his sleeves rolled back down at one point and the next thing I knew, they were up again. I have a student who does the same thing. I call him muscle man)
(Above: Pretty hardcore. Not everyone at the fire station can do this apparently. Although, the guy who did it last year was better at it because his arms were actually bent so he was up higher. None the less amazing though)
(Above: There's them and their hardcore tasks and me and my monkey bars. It was so easy to do and I'm sure everyone knew that but I just love how Japanese people are so polite and clap for everything. Even the simplest of things. Gotta love them for that)
Maybe I'll apply at the fire station when I'm finished my contract
